Not every clip should be matted the same way. Answer four questions and get the method that won't flicker, plus a realistic processing estimate.
| Method | Best for | Weakness |
|---|---|---|
| Chroma key | Green screen, any speed | Spill on edges; needs the shoot to be right |
| Per-frame matting | Simple silhouettes, short clips | Edge flicker on hair / motion blur |
| Temporal matting | Hair, fur, moving subjects | Slowest; the one that actually looks clean |
Rule of thumb: the harder the edge and the longer the clip, the more you want temporal consistency — a mask that is 95% right on every frame still looks broken when it changes.
